President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko instructed the Cabinet and other involved authorities to ensure the conversion of radio frequency resource required for launching UMTS (3G) connection. A corresponding decree has been already published on the president’s website.
At that, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which are currently using the radio frequency band, must be provided with a possibility of being reequipped with the modern technologies of radio relay communications and radiolocation.
The National Commission for the State Regulation of Communications and Informatization was entrusted the organization of tenders (public auctions) for issuance of licenses for IMT-2000 (UMTS) by October 30, 2014.
