CPU faction disbanded

VR Speaker Oleksandr Turchynov announced dissolution of the faction of the Communist Party of Ukraine at a session of the Verkhovna Rada.

Turchynov noted, as of July 1, the faction of the CPU included 23 MPs, which is less than the minimum number of the members of the parliament in the factions initially formed in the Verkhovna Rada. This is the reason for dissolution of a faction, according to the law, which came into force on Thursday.

«I hope there will never be a Communist Party faction in the Ukrainian government,» Turchynov emphasized.
MPs met this statement with applause.

At that, there were no representatives of the CPU in the parliament’s session hall.

As Capital reported, on July 22 president Petro Poroshenko signed changes to the law adopted by the Verkhovna Rada, which are giving the VR Speaker a possibility to dissolve the parliamentary factions.

Ничего смешного в этом не вижу. На лицо расправа с инокомыслием. Уничтожение фракции по политическим мотивам. Страна уверенно двигается к тоталитаризму, а не к демократии.
