Largest vehicle manufacturer in Ukraine Zaporizhzhya Automobile Plant has suspended its operation as a result of the economic situation in the country, informed ZAZ press service.
“The operation of the plant has been stopped as a result of the economic situation in the country and as a reaction to the changes in the market,” said the press service.
At that, closing of the plant is connected with the declining purchasing power of the Ukrainians caused by the devaluation of the hryvnia, reported UNIAN news agency with reference to the press service of the plant.
In addition, export supplies to Russia stopped and vehicle manufacturing for “stock” is economically unviable.
ZAZ collaborates with such companies as Adam Opel, Daimler AG, GM DAT, VAZ, TATA, Chery, Kia. The plant produces not only cars, but also buses and trucks.
As Capital reported, in July ZAZ reduced vehicle manufacturing by 98.9% or from 710 vehicles to 8, compared with June.
