Inflation in Ukraine in August 2014 accelerated to 0.8% from 0.4% in July, but due to the seasonal declines in the price of fruits and vegetables its rate remained lower compared to 1% in June and 3.8% in May.
According to the State Statistics Service, as a whole since the beginning of this year consumer prices have risen by 12.9%.
In annual terms (relative to the same month last year) inflation accelerated to 14.2% from 12.6% in July, 12% - June, and 10.9% - May.
As reported, in 2013 consumer prices in Ukraine increased by 0.5%, while a year earlier they were down by 0.2%.
The national budget for 2014 is based the forecast for inflation of 14%, but the government has downgraded this figure for the current year to 19%.
