The United States has expanded its list of sanctions against Russia, adding the country's biggest bank Sberbank, and energy companies, some of them privately owned, Interfax-Ukraine reported.
The energy companies are Gazprom, Lukoil, Surgutneftegas, Transneft and Gazprom Neft, the Treasury Department said in a statement.
Five state-owned defense and high-tech corporations were included in the sanctions.
Among other measures, Russia banned exports of services and equipment for Russian energy companies.
The state Rostec corporation, whose head, Sergei Chemezov, has already been hit by U.S. and EU sanctions, is on the news U.S. list.
