The current crisis in Ukraine increases the risks of human trafficking, said EUplus with reference to the report of the Council of Europe’s Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA).
«GRETA is deeply concerned about the negative influence of the current crisis in Ukraine on actions against human trafficking and also on the growing number of people who were displaced within the country and who are the most vulnerable group,» according to Euplus.
The experts also noted that during the past several years the Ukrainian government approved a number of important decisions on actions against human trafficking within the framework of the European Convention of May 3, 2005, including the corresponding law adopted by the Ukrainian government in 2011.
At that, they emphasized the necessity of financing the programs against human trafficking by the national budget and also cooperation with non-government organizations on these issues, said EUplus.
