Ukraine is planning to use mazut to cover 3 bn cu m shortage of gas during the heating season, said Vice Premier, Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services Volodymyr Groisman, as reported by Ukrainian News.

“We have approved a decision to increase the volumes of mazut to compensate for the gas shortage. Today we are estimating how much money we need to buy residual fuel oil. We count on using mazut to cover 3 bn cu m shortage of gas,” said Groisman at a briefing. The other volume of shortage of gas will be covered through reduction of the consumption, according to Groisman.

In addition, in the capital TPS-5 and TPS-6 of Kyivenergo will operate on mazut to reduce gas consumption, said Deputy Head of Kyiv City State Administration Petro Panteleyev, according to information agency UNIAN.

As Capital reported, earlier Groisman noted that shortage of gas for the heating season amounted to 5 bn cu m.
