Human Rights Watch accused ATO forces of using prohibited weapons

The international organization Human Rights Watch has accused the forces of the anti-terrorist operation of using prohibited cluster munitions in the populated areas of Donetsk oblast.

The use of cluster munitions in populated areas violates the laws of war due to the indiscriminate nature of the weapon and may amount to war crimes, said the human right activists.

Human Rights Watch believes that Ukraine should immediately commit itself not to use this kind of weapons.

To date, 114 countries joined a treaty on the prohibition of cluster munitions as it threatens the civilians. Ukraine has not signed the treaty yet.
