President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed a number of anti-corruption laws and the Law on Prosecutor’s General Office, which cancels the supervisory functions of the prosecution on compliance and application of laws, as it was reported on the President’s website.
In particular, the President signed the Law On National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, On Combating Corruption, On Anti-Corruption Policy in Ukraine for 2014-2015 and also On Introduction of the Amendments to Several Legislative Acts on Determination of the Ultimate Beneficial Owners of Legal Entities and Public Figures.
The Law on Prosecutor’s General Office cancels the functions on supervision of compliance and application of laws (so called general supervision). Now the specialized authorities will perform the functions of the Prosecutor’s office.
As a reminder, on October 14, the MPs supported in the second reading the bill No. 3541 On Prosecutor’s General Office.
On October 21, the law was submitted to Poroshenko for signing.
The law will come into force on March 14, said Prosecutor General Vitaliy Yarema.
