Energoatom opens representative office in Brussels

Energoatom was first of Ukrainian state companies which opened its own office in Brussels.

According to Energoatom President Yuriy Nedashkovsky, the main objectives of the Brussels office is close cooperation with the representatives of the European Commission and the European Energy Community for adapting Ukrainian norms and regulations to European standards, as well as a closer cooperation with European institutions and expanding the range of partners for joint projects in Ukraine and Europe.

In addition, the representative office should present the opportunities and promising directions of the development of the Ukrainian nuclear industry to European investors.

Nedashkovsky noted that at present Energoatom is implementing joint projects with European institutions. It has recently received a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Atomic Energy Community (Euratom) in the amount of EUR600 million to improve the safety and modernize nuclear power units.

Head of the Energoatom office in Brussels Andriy Tiuryn, in turn, said that one of the main tasks of the new office would be coordination of cooperation with the European industry and international organizations in the nuclear industry.
