Since the beginning of the heating season, Ukraine has imported 893.9 million cubic meters (mcm) of natural gas from Europe, PJSC Ukrtransgaz's press service reported on Wednesday, informed Interfax-Ukraine.
From October 20 to November 17, Ukraine pumped 826.1 mcm from Slovakia and 67.8 mcm from Poland.
Since November 2012, when Ukraine started buying gas from Europe, it has bought 5.8 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas, which includes 2.2 bcm from Slovakia, Ukrtransgaz reported.
January through October 2014, Ukraine imported about 3.1 bcm of gas from Europe, whereas gas imports from Europe in 2013 totaled 2.132 bcm.
Ukrtransgaz, which is 100% owned by Naftogaz Ukrainy, operates a system of trunk pipelines and 12 underground storage facilities in Ukraine. The capacity of Ukraine's gas transport system is 288 bcm at the entrance and 178.5 bcm at the exit, of which 142.5 bcm goes to European countries and 3.5 bcm goes to Moldova.
