Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has compared the Holodomor of 1932-1933 with an undeclared war against Ukraine in 2014 calling it a continuation of the imperial genocide against the Ukrainian people.

"Today, having already had the experience of the Patriotic War of 2014 for our independence with an enemy that has invaded our land, we have a different look on the events of 1932-1933. Then, there also was a real and undeclared war against Ukraine, which was conducted according to all the rules of the colonial imperial operations using special squads and internal troops against unarmed villagers, as the Communist Party did," he said during the events to commemorate the Holodomor on Saturday at the National Memorial to the victims of holodomors in Ukraine.

According to the president, "the successors of Stalin, Kaganovich, and Postyshev have not disappeared in the darkness of history." "They rule the bloody ball in the temporarily occupied territories of the so-called LPR and DPR, where they repeated the criminal experiments of the time of holodomors," the president stressed.

Poroshenko said that "the enemy is trying to divide us again." "Today more than ever we need unity. And I believe that we can learn the lessons of history. They should not hope to conquer Ukraine again. We have become stronger, wiser and we will fight back. Never give up, never stop fighting!" he said.
