Today, at a meeting of the the European Commission for Democracy through Law, the Ukrainian authorities were able to convince experts to abandon “categorical criticism” of the law on lustration, reported Evropeyska Pravda with reference to the information source in the Council of Europe.
“In the end, the Venice Commission approved an intermediate, but not a final decision,” he specified.
Thus, the Venice Commission gives the Ukrainian authorities a possibility to introduce amendments to the specified law, bringing it in correspondence with the Constitution of Ukraine and European standards.
