The proceeding on the criminal case against 30-year-old citizen of Kazakhstan Evgeny Vdovenko, involved in armed conflict in the Donbas in the ranks of the LPR fighters, was initiated in Saryarka District Court No. 2 of Astana, reported nur.kz.
“He participated in the battles, used weapons, maintained checkpoints, patrolled Luhansk and also carried out other tasks. Thus, Vdovenko, being a citizen of Kazakhstan, willfully and unlawfully engaged in an armed conflict, in the combat actions on the territory of foreign country, i.e. committed a crime, envisaged by the Article 162-1 (participation in international armed conflicts) of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan (…) with no evidence of mercenarism,” according to the indictment read by Prosecutor Dauren Ashimov.
Vdovenko made a decision to fight on the side of insurgents “after the May events in Odesa”, according to the prosecutor.
