The situation was calm in the area of the "anti-terrorist operation" in southeastern Ukraine last night, and no shelling was reported there, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said.

"We can congratulate ourselves. It was the first night when not a single shot was fired, when there was not a single breach of the ceasefire regime. And today we are setting exceedingly responsible tasks concerning the implementation of the Ukrainian president's peace plan, which was implemented in the form of the Minsk protocol and the Minsk memorandum. We have lots of work ahead," Poroshenko said when introducing Oleksandr Turchynov as the new secretary of the country's National Security and Defense Council.

The Ukrainian army operation's press center reported earlier on Tuesday that the situation in the operation area had not changed seriously in the past 24 hours, but had accused the militants of attacking the Ukrainian army's positions using artillery weapons, mortars, Grad multiple-launch rocket systems and small arms.
