Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that the hybrid war being waged against Ukraine will not be an obstacle to reforms in the country.
"The hybrid war that was launched against Ukraine will not stop the reforms. We are set to bring qualitative changes to the country," he said at a joint press conference with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini in Kyiv on Tuesday.
Poroshenko expressed hope that next week the Verkhovna Rada would support steps on reforms: "We hope that next week the parliament will definitely support these reforms, because the fate of the state, in fact, depends on this."
He stressed that at a meeting with Mogherini the sides had discussed constitutional reform, decentralization, the rule of law, judicial reform, as well as the problem with the creation of a high-quality investment climate.
Poroshenko recalled that all of these issues had been set out in the coalition agreement and he said he had no doubt that they would be implemented.
Mogherini, in turn, said that the EU was ready to support reforms in Ukraine, including ambitious projects.
