MPs Hanna Hopko, Tetiana Ostrikova, Viktor Kryvenko (members of Samopomich) and Oleh Musiy (Petro Poroshenko Bloc) are the authors of the bill No. 1474 On Amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine (the increase of the excise duty rates on tobacco products, beverages and beer) in the framework of European Integration of Ukraine.
The document has not yet been published on the parliament’s website, but, overall, the proposed changes envisage the increase of the excise duties on beer and strong beverages by 45-48%, as Hopko reported on her Facebook page.
It will allow increasing of the proceeds to the national budget not less than by UAH 2 bn (US $120 mn), even if the sales of beverages are reduced, according to Hopko.
The deputies also proposed to increase the specific excise duty rates on cigarettes without filters by around 100%, on filter-tipped cigarettes — by 30%, and also to increase ad valorem rate by 20%.
