The cooperation of Ukraine and International Atomic Energy Agency is under threat of failure due to the lack of money in Ukraine for the membership fee, Head of the International Cooperation and European Integration Department Ganna Goraschenkova announced at a session of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is responsible for the fees of Ukraine to the IAEA. They receive money from the national budget. There is a special budget program, according to which the fees are being paid to the organizations of the United Nations System. If Ukraine does not pay fees, then all projects related not only to the inspection of nuclear regulation, will stop. These are big projects on the development of nuclear medicine, issues of nuclear waste management, decision on Chornobyl projects,” noted Goraschenkova.
