NBU provides record amount of bank refinancing in Dec 2014

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) provided refinancing credit to banks worth UAH 42.9 billion in December 2014, the largest amount released by the central bank last year, 58% up on the sum of refinancing in November 2014.

"The volume of the refinancing of commercial banks by the central bank in December came to UAH 42.9 billion (including UAH 32.2 billion of overnight credits and UAH 7 billion of credits issued at tenders to support bank liquidity and UAH 2.5 billion of direct repossession transactions). Total refinancing provided since early 2014 reached UAH 222.3 billion," reads the NBU report.

The average rate for transactions to support bank liquidity in December 2014 was 17.95%, including 17.5% for overnight credits, 19.08% for credits issued at tenders and 19.16% for repossession transactions.

In January-December 2014, the average rate for transactions to support bank liquidity was 15.57% per annum.

The NBU said that the bank conducted fund mobilization transactions in December worth UAH 155.5 billion (UAH 1.473 trillion since early 2014).

The average rate for mobilization transactions in December was 8.34% per annum and 5.68% since early 2014.
