Militants used Grad launchers to shell Volnovakha bus from Dokuchayevsk – prosecutor general

The shelling of a passenger bus near Volnovaha on January 13 was carried out by Grad multiple rocket launchers, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Vitaliy Yarema has said.

"The projectile [which hit the bus] has been identified as a 9M22U 120 mm unguided high-explosive M-21OF rocket that was shot out of a BM21 Grad multiple rocket launcher," Yarema said at a press conference in Kyiv on Monday while commenting on the results of a pre-trial investigation into the Volnovakha tragedy.

Investigators established that the shelling was conducted simultaneously by at least three launch systems, 88 craters from the shells were found at the scene, the prosecutor general said.

According to the pre-trial investigation by the Prosecutor General's Office, the shelling was conducted from a distance of 19 km from the outskirts of the town of Dokuchayevsk, Yarema said.

Ten passengers on the bus were killed instantly, two more died of their wounds in hospital, while 18 were injured, the prosecutor general said.
