Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has ordered an internal investigation into the actions of officials in the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry and state enterprises during the signing of contracts on the supply of electricity by Ukrinterenergo and Russia's Inter RAO.

"I give an order that an internal investigation into the actions of officials in the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry and top managers of state enterprises during the signing of contracts on imports of electricity from Russia and on the supply of electricity to Ukrainian territory, which is Crimea, be launched," he said.

Yatseniuk also reacted to statements made by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev regarding the contracts signed by Ukrinterenergo and Inter RAO.

"I see that these contracts have a lawyer – the Russian premier. Yesterday he even issued a statement. The good news is that the Russian prime minister started writing in Ukrainian and English. This is the right thing – one should study Ukrainian. The bad news is that I demand that this is established during the investigation: who agreed the conditions of the contracts, and why the place of litigations in the contract is the hero city of Moscow? The government is to get the report within 10 days. Then I will inform the Ukrainian president, parliament and Ukrainians on what conditions of the contract are in line with Ukraine's interests and what conditions, as Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev wrote in his post, are not in line with Ukraine's interests," he said.
