The share of foreign capital in the banking system has increased from 33.5% to 33.7% in May, according to the National Bank of Ukraine. As of June 1, of the 177 banks operating in Ukraine (with a license), there were 51 financial institutions with foreign capital (as of January 1, 2014, there were 49 banks with foreign capital of the 180 operating on the market), including 19 with 100% foreign capital (as of January 1, there were also 19). As of June 1, 2014 the aggregate registered authorized capital of Ukrainian banks amounted to UAH 186.338 bn (as of January 1 – UAH 185.239 bn).
As of June 1, 2014 net assets of Ukrainian banks amounted to UAH 1,315.129 bn (as of January 1, 2013 – UAH 1,278.095 bn), total assets (not adjusted for reserves for the active bank operations) – UAH 1,475.070 bn (as of January 2014 – UAH 1,408.688 bn).
As a reminder, the share of foreign capital in the banking system of Ukraine declined from 33.6% to 33.5% in April.
In 2013 the share of foreign capital in the banking system declined from 39.5% to 34%, in 2012 – from 41.9% to 39.5%.
