President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso and top officials of the European Union member countries signed the economic part of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and EU, which envisages creation of a free trade zone, at the EU Summit in Brussels.
The Ukraine-EU Association Agreement must be ratified by all 28 EU member countries and Kyiv. Earlier, however, the EU approved temporary enforcement of certain provisions of the Agreement, which will take force before all EU member countries ratify the document. In particular, these include the provisions on the free trade zone, which as the parties expect, will take force in autumn 2014 after the Ukrainian parliament ratifies the document.
