In order to preserve gas for the 2014/2015 heating season, the authorities need to turn off hot water supply in the suburbs during the warm period of the year, said Chairman of the Supervisory Board of KyivEnergo Ivan Plachkov at a round table.
“I am surprised that the decision has not been made to turn off hot water supply in Kyiv, Kharkiv and other cities,” said Plachkov.
He believes that such measures would help save gas for the heating season. The citizens and the government are not completely ready for the complex heating season, which Ukraine may face due to termination of Russian gas supplies, said Plachkov.
In addition, he said, the volume of gas currently available at the Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities is not enough for the heating season.
“I do not believe yesterday’s statement of Naftogaz that 10 bn cu m in the storage facilities will be enough for the heating season,” he emphasized.
