Ministry of Finance – There are no funds to pay the Ukrainian army from August 1

The long-lasting anti-terrorist operation in Eastern Ukraine has exhausted the funds allocated for it. Therefore there is a threat that the government will have to cancel payments to the Ukrainian servicemen starting from August 1, informed finance minister Oleksandr Shlapak, while presenting draft amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine for expansion of the budget revenues.

“From August 1 we will not have any funds to pay the servicemen,” he said.

The minister specified that they need over UAH 9 bn (US $760 mn) to continue the anti-terrorist operation, while overall the budget requires UAH 31 bn (US $2.6 bn)

As Capital reported, earlier Shlapak announced that the ATO costs the country UAH 1.5 bn (US $130 mn) monthly.
