The volume of money transfers from abroad to Ukraine declined by 17.99% from US $2.06 mn to US $1.69 mn in April-June 2014, compared with the same period in 2013, reported the NBU.
In particular, US $569 mn were transferred to Ukraine through the correspondent accounts in the second quarter of 2014 (US $815 mn in Q2, 2013), US $889 mn (US $961 mn in Q2, 2013) – through the international payment systems, US $228 mn (US $280 mn in the same period the previous year) – by informal channels.
The salaries accounted for US $1.1 mn from the total volume of private money transfers to Ukraine in Q2, 2014 (US $135 mn in Q2, 2013), transfers from those who work abroad – US $308 mn (US $377 mn in Q2, 2013), other private transfers – US $326 mn in Q2, 2013).
Over six months the largest volume of money transfers (without considering transfers by informal channels) was transferred to Ukraine from Russia (US $1.03 mn or 35.7%), USA (US $267.1 mn or 9.3%), Germany (US $167.5 mn or 5.8%), Greece (US $135.2 mn or 4.7%), Italy (US $133.2 mn or 4.6%), according to NBU.
As a reminder, in January-March 2014, NBU reported decline of money transfers from abroad to Ukraine by 7.7% from US $1.78 mn to US $1.64 mn compared with the same period in 2013.
