The Ukrainian government is holding negotiations with the mission of the International Monetary Fund on the expansion of the Stand-By Arrangement under which the IMF in spring 2014 approved the provision of $17.1 billion to Kyiv, Economic Development and Trade Minister Aivaras Abromavicius has said.

"We'd like to expand the arrangement and we're making calculations," he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday, commenting on the talks started with the IMF mission.

The IMF Mission arrived to Kyiv and will work until December 18, 2014.

The minister said that the mission has held first meetings with the National Bank of Ukraine, Finance Ministry and the Economic Development and Trade Ministry and the situation in the country has been assessed in general.

He did not additionally comment on the possible expansion of the Stand-By Arrangement with the IMF.

"It is too early to declare the concrete figure from the moment of holding negotiations with the IMF. Negotiations are underway and they will finish on December 18. You will know everything in coming days," Abromavicius said.
