The Verkhovna Rada has approved in the first reading the anti-corruption strategy for 2014-2017. 256 of 273 MPs who were present at the session on Monday voted for the bill No. 5085 On the anti-corruption policy in Ukraine for 2014-2017.

The deputies also passed the main bill On System of the Specially Authorized Entities in the Anti-Corruption Sector proposed by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. 278 MPs voted for it in the first reading.

Then, the deputies supported the proposal to vote for the bill in general at the session on October 14.

According to the bill, it is expected that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau will be created outside the system of existing law enforcement bodies as the state law enforcement agency which is entrusted notification, detection, prevention and disclosing of criminal offences relative to its jurisdiction.
