The energy holding DTEK owned by businessman Rinat Akhmetov announced that it is importing coal of the anthracite group at its own expense.
Thus, coal is shipped only after the prepayment and DTEK expects from the National Commission for Energy and Public Utilities Regulation (NCEPUR) the decisions that will help solve the problem of the shortage of funds required for coal purchase, informed head of the anti-crisis headquarters of the energy holding Dmytro Sakharuk.
“We do not receive help from the regulator. During six months DTEK purchases coal at its own expense and we have exhausted all our possibilities. Energorynok has a UAH 5 bn (US $380 mn) debt, UAH 2 bn (US $150 mn) of which – to DTEK. These funds could cover the cost of imported coal,” he explained at a press conference.
At that, Sakharuk expressed doubts that the regulator will solve the problem.
