Ministry of Energy intends to save over UAH 4 bn on coal industry

The Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry is planning to spend UAH 4.3 bn (US $330 mn) less on financing of coal industry this year compared with 2013, announced First Deputy Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Yuriy Zyukov at a press conference.

“From the beginning of the year UAH 8.3 bn (US $640 mn) were allocated for the coal industry, which is UAH 4.1 bn (US $310 mn) less than during the corresponding period the previous year. In 2013 UAH 15.2 bn (US $1.17 bn) from the national budget were spent on the coal industry. We expect to spend UAH 10.9 bn (US $840 mn), which is UAH 4.3 bn less than was spent the previous year,” he said.

The ministry will be able to achieve economy, in particular, thanks to the eliminating the middlemen from the technological process of coal sales, according to Zyukov.
