The National Bank of Ukraine has prohibited the credit and deposit operations in Russian roubles in Ukraine, reported the press service of the National Bank with reference to the NBU’s decree No. 699 of November 3, 2014.
“To prohibit the performance of following transactions in Russian roubles on the mainland territory of Ukraine: the attraction of deposits under the bank deposit agreements, including the increase of the deposit amount, which was placed before the law (On the creation of the free trade zone in Crimea and peculiarities of economic activities on the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine) came into force,” according to the decree.
The NBU has also prohibited prolongation of these agreements, provision of credit money (loans), including overdraft loans, and also prolonging the period of using loan or its share under the agreement approved before the law came into force.
The document came into force on the next day after its official publishing.
