The supplier from the Republic of South Africa Steel Mont refused to sign a new agreement with UkrInterEnergo on coal supply, announced Director of UkrInterEnergo Volodymyr Zinevych at a briefing in Kyiv.
The reason is the investigations that are being conducted in Ukraine by the Prosecutor General’s Office, according to Zinevych.
“To date, we have signed specification for 500,000 t. The trader (Steel Mont) does not want to cooperate anymore. It has to settle the very complex reputation issues with banks, its partners, institutions… The reputation risks are very important for the companies which operate in the sector of the international trade,” said Zinevych.
He noted that the price of the third specification (supply of 500,000 t) amounts to around UAH 50 mn (US $3.23 mn).
As a reminder, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine agreed with the Republic of South Africa on the supply of 1 mn t of coal.
