The National Bank has temporarily released borrowers with the necessity of repaying mortgage loans in Crimea, according to the NBU’s decree No. 727 of November 19.
During the occupation of Crimea, forcibly displaced people are released from responsibility to repay the mortgage loan principal and interests accrued on mortgages, according to the document.
The specified condition is in effect only if property located in Crimea is the object of mortgage loan.
The corresponding decree will allow to mitigate the negative impact of the temporary occupation of the part of Ukraine’s territory on the financial condition of lending banks, said the regulator.
