An International Monetary Fund mission has started negotiations with the new Ukrainian government, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said on Tuesday.

The talks will cover, among other things, a reduction in public spending, he said.

"We jointly, with our partners from the IMF, the World Bank and other international financial organizations, will determine concrete approaches to reducing spending and to [forming] the budget. I'll notify about this separately after the end of the negotiations with the IMF [mission] who have arrived today and the first round of the talks is under way now," he said.

In general, expenditure in the public sector is expected to be reduced by 10% within the next two years, he said.
